This site is dedicated to the memory of Eileen Brock.

Eileen's son David says: "My mother died peacefully, aged 95 on 17 August 2012. She was a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother and homemaker; selfless, devoted, caring, sacrificial and upright. "She loved music, particularly orchestral music and enjoyed going to the opera. In her younger days she played the piano well. She – and my father – encouraged me in my teens to play the ‘cello and turned up at concerts in all sorts of places. When she had grandchildren, she always enjoyed hearing them play; between the three of them they played (and play) the piano, flute, violin, acoustic guitar, drums, bass guitar and even the didgeridoo. "For her, music was to be enjoyed, but was also a social skill, a relaxation. It was a common bond with Frank, her husband. She enjoyed live performance. Towards the end of her life, when she was less able to get about and her senses were less acute, she would nonetheless react with pleasure and animation to musical performance, especially by youngsters, beating time and singing along. Music was hard-wired in her. "To enable more young people to play music would have given her the greatest pleasure."
